** NEW Design Releases! **

Toadally Arrrgh!
Ahoy, mateys! These scallywag toads are sure t' put some hair on ye chest and some shiver in ye timbers! The first in my new "Toadally Toads" series, "Toadally Arrrgh!" features three ornery designs sure to please pirate lovers everywhere! Stitched primarily with Crescent Colours and DMC floss, these designs are festooned with pirate doubloons, swords, and even a few "X's" to mark the spot! Walk the plank over to the What's New? page for more details and to see a larger picture of this design!

Toadally Patriotic

The second design in my "Toadally Toads" series, "Toadally Patriotic" features a whimsical Uncle Sam toad dressed up in his patriotic best! All three designs incorporate a variety of red, white, and blue motifs enhanced with Kreinik braids to make them sparkle like the 4th of July! Be sure to visit the What's New? page for more details and to see a larger picture of this design.

Here are a couple of close up pics so you can see a few of the details in each design: the coins in "Toadally Arrrgh!" are outlined in Kreinik gold braid, and in "Toadally Patriotic", the toad's mustache, beard, and eyebrows are stitched with fluffy white Rainbow Gallery "Wisper"!

More "Toadally Toads" designs are scheduled for release in 2012, so stay tuned for more!

Where Did I Find Those Star-Shaped Metal Floss Rings?
One of the most popular questions I was asked at the Celebration of Needlework show (after "will you be designing more toads?" Answer: yes!) was "where did you find those cool star-shaped floss rings that you used for the smalls in your toad designs?"

I found them at this really cool website called Anita's Little Stitches !
She sells pink, red, and purple heart-shaped floss rings (which will be featured in an upcoming Toadally Toad design), too! Be sure to browse through her entire website to see all the unique stitching goodies she has to offer!

Just Added to Stitchy Kitty Gallery!

Here is "Willy" stitched by Wilma B.! Wilma stitched him on a beautiful 28ct Sassy fabric that really makes "Willy" stand out nicely! She stitched all of him with DMC, except for his scarf which she stitched in a Sulky fiber. Beautiful finish!

Visit Page 8 of the Stitchy Kitty Gallery to see Leslie's ornament, along with all the other wonderful finishes in the Gallery!

The Celebration of Needlework Show in NH Was Wonderful!
Many, many thanks to everyone who stopped by to see me and my stitched models at the Celebration of Needlework show in NH last month! I had such an amazing time at the show this year and it was wonderful to be able to meet and talk with so many stitchers in one place. I saw many familiar faces from shows past and met many new stitchers who were attending the show for the very first time. And I was overwhelmed by all the positive comments I received about my designs, especially my new toad designs! Thanks so much for all the encouraging words, they really meant a lot to me!

I was also very pleased to see how busy the shopping area was for pretty much the entire weekend - there was plenty of stash-shopping going on!

I'd like to thank Mary, Micky, Sharon, Jackie, and the rest of the wonderful ladies with whom I had the opportunity to enjoy dinner with a couple of nights at the show. They were a pleasure to hang out with and really made my time at Celebrations even more enjoyable. Many thanks to Mary for always seeking me out and inviting me to join her and her group!

Click here to see pictures I took at the show, including pics of my models on display and many of the vendor booths!

I'd also like to mention a very special "Thank You!" to Erica, Marlo, and Geneva at Yankee Cross Stitch for allowing me to set up my trunk show in their booth at the Celebration of Needlework show each year! They have graciously hosted me for many years now and it is always a pleasure and a lot of fun to hang out with them in their booth!

Stitchy Kitty Design in Jan/Feb 2011 Issue of The Gift of Stitching Magazine
Here's a picture of my design "Friendship Bird Floss Tag" in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of The Gift of Stitching online magazine!

Friendship Bird Floss Tag

I created this design as a unique way for a stitcher to give several skeins of their favorite fibers to a stitchy friend! Just stitch and finish the floss tag, then attach the fibers you want to give to the thread ring - the fibers represent the bird's tail! Not only will your friend receive some really fun fibers, but also a stitched floss tag (stitched by you!) that they can keep and treasure long after the fibers have been used!

You can even change the colors of the design to match the colors of the fibers you want to give, as I've done here. I've finished the design as a flat floss tag, but it could also be finished as a small stuffed ornament.

My design is only one of many wonderful designs included in the February issue, you can see pics of all the designs by visiting the Gift of Stitching website here.

How can you get this, and all the other beautiful designs in this issue? By subscribing to The Gift of Stitching magazine! Subscription information can be found here. You can also purchase individual issues as they become available, usually a few months after release.

"Kris' Stitches - Winter Love" Chart Includes Stitchy Kitty Design

Norden Crafts is releasing a series of charts comprised of small cross stitch motifs donated by various designers in memory of Kris Stott, one of the founders of Norden Crafts, who passed away suddenly in 2009.  The designs are based on some of the things that Kris loved best, like snowmen, animals, flowers, and hearts.

The chart shown above, "Winter Love", is the fourth of seven charts in the series. They are being released under the heading of "Kris' Stitches", a company that Kris started back in 1977 for her hand-painted needlepoint canvases. All proceeds from the sale of these charts will be donated to several different animal protection organizations around the country in Kris’s name.

The designs included in this chart were designed by Imaginating, Praiseworthy Stitches, Myrtle Grace Motifs, Shakepeare's Peddler, Stitchy Kitty (the middle design of a snowman in a blue heart), Historic Stitches, Blackbird Designs, The Stitching Parlor, Poppy Kreations, and Midsummer Night Designs.

If you would like to purchase this chart, or any of the other charts in the series, please ask for it at your favorite needlework shop!

I'd especially love to see pics where you've finished a Stitchy Kitty design in a way that's different than how I finished the model, such as a flat fold, cube, ornament, anything goes!
